EDfuse is a measuring system for high-precision testing of the quiescent and operating current in a vehicle. Installation involves a minimum amount of effort - the existing fuses are simply exchanged for more intelligent ones - following which, measurement of the current consumption of various electric systems is possible, even when the car is running. The high precision of the measuring system is achieved by galvanic disconnection and calibration of all measuring elements. This means that there is no risk of interference when the measuring system has been connected up.
The following upgrade stages are available:
- EDfuse handheld
Ideal for workshop or garage applications - EDfuse mini
Portable measuring system with a wide variety of documentation and analysis functions - EDfuse powerstation
Compact measuring system

EDfuse handheld is the starter model in this product family. Two outstanding features of this measuring system are its compact dimensions and easy-to-handle design. At the heart of the system is a sturdy PDA for the display and recording of measuring data. Two measuring fuses, the energy supply for which is provided by the PDA battery, can be connected up. Optional test prods enable quiescent and operating current to be measured without having to replace the fuses. |
The measuring fuses are available in three versions - Mini, ATO
and Maxi - and replace the standard vehicle fuse whilst measuring
is being carried out.
With the corresponding special software, the
optional test prods can be parameterised so as to enable all backup
values to be covered. Test prods are also available in
the versions Mini and ATO.
By attaching an optional shunt resistor, it is
possible to monitor the total current of the
vehicle. When a departure from the quiescent state is detected, the
fault can be localised with the help of the test prods.
Advantages
- Maximum mobility
- No changes in the electrical system, as original fuse wires are used in the measuring elements
- Immediate evaluation possible
- Quickly ready for use with test prods

EDfuse mini is a portable, mobile measuring station with its own battery to provide the system's power supply, which means it works completely independently of the vehicle. Its case is is of stainless steel on an aluminium platform, and is thus rust-proof. With the EDfuse mini system, it is possible to connect up to 50 (optionally 150) measuring fuses, and simultaneously process all measuring data. The measuring PDA can be snapped onto the station, or removed for operation via the touch screen. A PC may be connected up instead of the PDA. |
The measuring fuses are available in three versions - Mini, ATO and Maxi - and replace the standard vehicle fuse in test runs. By attaching an optional shunt resistor, it is possible to monitor the total current of the vehicle. The integrated logic permits independent charging of the battery while the generator is running, so facilitating its use as a long-term measuring system.
Advantages
- Maximum mobility
- Individually adjustable data acquisition for overall vehicle performance (main shunt) and for individual component analysis (measuring fuses)
- Independent data recording (long-term test)
- Energy balancing option

The EDfuse powerstation is a compact measuring system with its own power supply, to provide the system itself, all measuring elements that have been connected, and additional measuring elements with energy. The EDfuse powerstation offers the option of connecting up further measuring instruments. To this end, it has two 12-volt sockets (7.5 to 15A) and four connectors (7.5A) for 4mm laboratory plugs. All the sockets are fused. |
The system's energy management ensures that any instruments that have been connected up have a reliable power supply, whilst preventing the station's battery from running down. It is possible to connect and process the data from 50 (optionally 150) measuring fuses. The measuring fuses are available in three versions - Mini, ATO and Maxi - and replace the standard vehicle fuse in test runs. By attaching an optional shunt resistor, it is possible to monitor the total current of the vehicle.
